About the open-source edition.
You can run the Community edition for your own business, read the code and change it, free. If you offer a changed copy to other people as a hosted service, the AGPL-3.0 licence asks you to publish your changes too. That keeps the project open for everyone.

They come with a self-hosted licence: Founding Self-Hosted at $697 once, or Founding Self-Hosted Agency at $1,047 once, which is the same plus reseller rights.

The code is open for anyone to read and run, but development stays in-house: we don't accept outside code contributions, so the product stays consistent and its quality is ours to answer for. Bug reports and feature ideas are very welcome, in the community or on the public roadmap.
One licence covers one production install, plus one staging or test copy. Self-hosted licences are non-refundable.
If you'd rather not run servers, the hosted plans are the same product with nothing to install or update, and a 7-day free trial.
